Joining the Street Melts team.

The most underrated NFT project in the space.

Last week I joined the Street Melts team as a strategic advisor. An NFT project that has a huge amount of potential for a number of reasons. With the upcoming launch of their second collection (the society collection) there is plenty to be excited about. In this article, I’m going to explain why I have joined the team and will give more insight into the project itself.

The Art

Firstly, lets talk about the art. The founder, Zhaine, has hand drawn every design and trait before launching the first of the Genesis Collection back on August 11th, 2021. The minting process for this first collection was a slow manual process and there’s a reason behind this which we will get into later.

First impressions are everything and this is what originally drawn me to be project. Seriously cool looking art with meaning behind it. Considering the current floor price (as of November 11th 2021), this extremely unique street art is criminally undervalued in my opinion.

The Original Vision

Zhaine is a street artist that entered the NFT space in March 2021. The original vision behind this project was to prove that ‘real world’ artists can get involved in the NFT space without any specialist knowledge or technical ability. Granted, the manual process took a little longer than what it would with the help of a developer, but it’s not impossible. Barrier to entry is relatively low if you’re willing to put the time in and this vision was proven first hand by Zhaine and the Street Melts Genesis Collection.

It’s fair to say that this has already been a huge W for the Street Melts project however, the project has continued to grow and has become much more than this whilst still being mindful of the reason why this project ultimately exists.

Charitable Donations

The implementation of charity donations is a big one for me. In an industry where the value of money and what really matters can get lost, it’s important to remember what good we can actually do as a community.

One of the perks of being part of the Street Melt community is being given the opportunity to vote on certain charity donations. Street Melt holders will often be able to suggest charities and vote to decide where the funds from the community wallet will be donated too.

Some of the donations are also given to Australian schools which I think is an excellent idea. The thought process behind this is to fund art facilities and equipment in the aim of helping the next generation of NFT artists.

Team Transparency

In an industry that is largely anonymous, it’s always reassuring when the core members of a team is doxxed or offers some level of transparency. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been able to have multiple video calls with the team which personally makes me feel much more comfortable when taking on a new role.

Street Melts is only a small team of five right now, but everybody is here for the same reasons. To create a project and community that offers value. This makes the experience and the journey much more enjoyable and productive for everybody involved.

The Street Melts Community

The community behind this project is one of the most loyal and supportive communities that I have seen in the NFT space. When the project has the right intentions, it feels like the right community members follow and that’s what I see here.

With the recent down turn in the NFT market, it has certainly flushed out a lot of the projects that here for a quick pay day. Now we’re seeing which projects and therefore communities, are here to stick around.

The involvement of community based decision making is great to see and as the community continues to grow, I can only see the positive culture that the team has managed to build in such a short period of time, continue to grow as well.

Long Term Vision

So now we move on to one of the most important things in my opinion. Long term vision. What are the teams intentions and what does the roadmap look like?

One thing to keep in mind… Zhaine is a doxxed street artist who is continuing to build an incredible reputation in the industry. The project has caught the attention of Gary Vee and that is not something you want to throw away for short term gains.

The roadmap and future plans that the Street Melts project have in place confirm to me that this is going to be a project that will be continuing to work towards new goals continuously over the coming years.

The future of the Genesis Collection

Before I wrap this up, some people may be concerned about the future of the Genesis Collection with the Society Collection in the pipeline. The Genesis collection is a small collection of 1,446 for a reason. It can be seen as the ‘OG’ collection. Genesis holders will be much more scarce and will be entitled to more unique benefits in the future, especially when it comes to the launch of the society collection, merchandise, voting and much more.

One Question — Did BAYC become worthless when MAYC launched?

Final Thoughts

Overall, I believe I’m joining a project with real potential at the best possible time. Maybe interest in the NFT space is pretty low right now as Bitcoin and Ethereum continuously make new highs, but when looking at the bigger picture, this is just the start for the NFT industry as we prepare for the largely anticipated launch of the Coinbase NFT Marketplace.
